
Väätsa Basic School is the biggest basic school in Järva county founded in 1739. School was in different houses up to 1925 when it moved to Väätsa manor house. In 1970s a new extension was built to it.
It is a public 7-16 school. This school year there are 105 students and 19 teachers in our school. Headmaster is Enn Lehtpuu and headteacher Anneli Mand. School is a member of Manor Schools' Association in Järva County that was founded to herit and restore manor schools.
In years the school has built on its cultural traditions. After five years school reunion takes place here. Every autumn Helmi Tohvelman award is given to the best actor or actress in Estonia and to the best 9-year student in Järva County. Every year poems´ day takes place here, every month our school newspaper is published. Building relationships across Europe through eTwinning and Comenius projects is very popular. Students take part in lots of events in our county as well as Estonia.
